The small pillow strap changed my backpacking life, and this is not hyperbole. For so many years I would use my clothes bag or a jacket as a pillow, and would always wake to find it had migrated somewhere off my pad and have to locate it so I could get back to sleep. I eventually bought a small Sea to Summit ultralight pillow after seeing backpackers on YouTube talk about how they were converts. I loved my new pillow but couldn't get it to stay put. I put it in the hood of my mummy bag, but even then would wake up with it pushed to the side or even on top of me. Enter the pillow strap. I had high hopes and honestly my first night of sleep exceeded those hopes. Having a pillow that stays put has increased the amount and quality of my sleep. I also now have a quilt that I also highly recommend, I sleep almost as well on the trail as I do in my own bed, which I think is high praise considering I am now in my 50s, and the pillow strap is a big part of it. I also love that I can wash it easily and that it adds some fun color to my tent. Both the pillow and the Pillow Strap add 4 oz to my setup which is well worth it I think, if youre trying to be gram conscious the strap itself is only 1.8oz and can be stuffed with clothes etc. Change your life on trail for the better!
This is my second pillow strap, decided I needed a medium one for cushier car camping after buying a small for backpacking and deciding it is a MUST for camping. I use it with a Sea to Summit Aeros premium inflatable pillow, but my kids have also used it with a Trekology pillow with good results. I also bought the strap extender so I could use it with the Exped Megamat and it worked great. I love the chroma current print, adds some whimsy to my tent. I cannot tell you how helpful it is for my sleep to have a pillow that stays put on my sleeping pad. I also love that I can wash the pillow strap and not have to clean the actual pillow when I get back home. This is a core part of my camping setup, hope I never sleep without one!
I can’t sleep without this. I have the medium PillowStrap with the PillowStrap inflatable pillow which I use with my 66 x20 Big Agnes Rapide mattress. I will admit to having tried a different pillow & waking up multiple times in the night with a deflated sack under my head. I also tried a different company’s pillow case system. When I set out on a recent 350 bicycle trip I made sure my PillowStrap set was packed. Well worth a few ounces for a good night’s sleep.
Last year I struggled sleeping well because my air pillow kept falling off my air mattress. This held the pillow nicely and the material was comfortable on my head and face. This worked. It washes nicely as well.
It's a nice product. I use one usually with a bigsky dreamsleeper with an XLite. It does what its supposed to. I would really like to see a convertible cover that turned into a stuff sack/hip pouch. Then I feel I could justify taking it on every trip.
Perfect accessory for your sleep kit! Nothing worse than having your pillow shooting out from under your head like a shelled edamame at 2:00 AM. On top of adding to convenance, it adds comfort as well. Not to mention, it can double as a stuff sack for your sleeping clothes like socks, shirt, and some comfy undies, helps keep all your gear organized. The stretch material accommodates several pillow sizes too! I also have the XL for my car camping kit for my larger pillow. Must buy!!!! I’d give it 6 stars if I could!
Does exactly what it needs to, keeps the pillow on the mat so the pillow doesn’t fall off and wake you up. God nights aplenty with this!
I started using a pillow during my PCT thru hike and would use my buff as a pillow cover because my filthy pillow gave me acne and I could wash the buff. I used the Pillow Strap on the CDT and these 2.3oz made a significant impact on my hike in all the best ways. The material of the Pillow Strap makes my cheap, abrasive, inflatable Chinese pillow feel soft and cozy. On the CDT I used with it with a NeoAir, but I've also used it with my NEMO Tensor and it works on both perfectly. Not having any extra wake ups during the night to find or adjust my pillow was worth its weight in gold on the CDT where having better quality of sleep was king for me. Plus, it's so simple to throw in the wash in town to have some semblance of cleanliness.
This is one of the most simple yet effective (and affordable) upgrades I've ever made to my bikepacking and backpacking kit.
I had no idea how much my pillow skipping off my air pad was affecting my sleep (and therefore recovery) until I got a Pillow Strap!
I have had the best nights sleeps in my tent since using the Pillow Strap and I could not imagine camping without it.
Proof that much a lovely and lightweight piece of gear can completely change your life for the better!
I love this thing! As a quilt user this is a lifesaver. No more chasing pillows in the middle of the night. One of the best things I have purchased for camping.
I'm currently using the Thermarest neoair xlite nxt pad with a Klymit X Base XL pillow. The pillow strap system worked flawlessly for me on two trips now. I stow it in the compression sack with my quilt. A very worthwhile purchase!
I just finished my first trip with Pillow Strap and it made a world of difference in my sleep. I had ZERO concerns about my pillow slipping off all night. It stayed in place the whole time. For reference, I have a Nemo Filo King Luxury pillow and a Nemo Tensor all season long/wide pad. Everything fit perfectly together and it made my night much better. Do not hesitate on getting a Pillow Strap.
Great pillow strap, holds on well and is nice against your weathered face. Customer service is off the chart perfect, they could teach classes.
Absolute Game-Changer! Best Camping Gear Purchase of 2026y
I recently picked up the Camping and Backpacking Pillowcase with straps, and I am absolutely blown away. If you are on the fence about upgrading your trail sleep system, let this be your sign.
Unmatched Comfort & Quality
The material is incredible—silk smooth making it perfect for both warm summer nights and chilly alpine starts. It transformed my noisy, crinkly inflatable pillow into a plush, hotel-quality resting spot. The stitching is durable, and it packs down smaller than a deck of cards.
Sonic Speed Shipping
I ordered this on a whim before a weekend trip, fully expecting it to arrive after I got back. Instead, it was shipped in less than 24 hours. The shipping speed was truly "sonic"—packed well and arrived faster than I could plan my route.
A+ Customer Service!
This is going to be great on the Appalachian Trail when I switch to a quilt in the warmer months!
I need a large pillow and this works perfect. I wish I had this on my last trip
I haven’t had a chance to use it, but first impressions are that it feels great, easy to use and it fits my pillow perfectly. Looking forward to my pillow not sliding off my pad.

Used my pillow strap for the first time winter camping, and it performed flawlessly. I can't believe I waited so long to get one.
